3. Look and Live
From "Made Whole"
From "Made Whole"
"Look and Live" expands on themes found in the story of Nicodemus. It explores of Jesus' ministry in the area of spiritual restoration, and how true Christianity is not merely about forms and rituals, but about whole-person change. This song explores the biblical idea of salvation and tension of justification and sanctification.
Lyrics:
A teacher sought a lowly Nazarene;
Drawn by His teaching of humility;
Jesus offered Him no rituals or theories made by men—
Instead, Christ said, “You must be born again.”
Chorus:
Behold, the Lamb of God who takes my sin!
See the power of His Spirit work to change me from within!
And He writes His law within me through the power of His grace;
So that one day I may see Him face to face.
Like the lifted serpent in the wilderness
Christ was lifted up, and died to bear our sin.
Not that we deserve His mercy—tis the grace He freely gives—
He just asks of us to look to Him and live.
As I see the light shining from the cross
My heart is now revived, and my faith now awakes.
Love draws me closer to Him; transforms all my desires,
As He calls for me in life to come up high’r.
Bridge:
Though I cannot trace the moment in the changes that have been
It’s the myst’ry of conversion like the movements of the wind!
